science unit
In this unit we learned about erosion and landforms and how they effect the world. We went to the lab and made two experiments. This showed us the difference between rapid water erosion and slow water erosion. We also went to wadi degla and learned about the fossils and how water used to be in the wadi, and about how their was a river there. Our essential question was, why does the earth look the way it does?
One thing I learned in this unit is that the earth can change naturally and that the earth can change because of humans, for example global warming has happened many times before naturally, but now people are causing global warming because of many objects, such as plastic, burning trash, oil spills, factories, cows and many other things.
Another thing I learned in this unit is that water is stronger than sand and when the sand is not piled up and thick the water can jut flow past it's side. I think this is because when water is free it becomes heavier and stronger so it overcomes the sand and forms different shapes to the sand.
What I liked in this unit was that we got to have fun while watching things that could happen in thousands of years happen in under five minutes, for example in experiments we could see where the water went and we would ask ourselves why and work together with a group to find the answer.
